The Picture of Dorian Gray is a philosophical novel by the Irish writer Oscar Wilde. A shorter version, in the form of a novella, was published in the July 1890 edition of the American newspaper Lippincott's Monthly Magazine. The complete version of the novel was published in April 1891.
